Can I come if I am travelling alone?

Yes! We welcome solo travellers for Amar retreats. One of Amar's values is for us to find our tribe around the world and what a better way to find friends on an adventure like this one!

Those travelling by themselves will be sharing a Fale with a fellow solo traveller.

Do I need to know how to Scuba Dive?

No, we will be snorkelling with the whales.

Do I need to bring my own gear?

For your own comfort, you can bring your own snorkelling gear but if you don't have any, everything will be provided on the trip.

What would the weather be like?

It will be the tail-end of winter, it won't be that cold but pack some warm clothes just in case and definitely pack a windbreaker for the boat when whale swimming.

What does the movement and meditation on the itinerary consist of?

Movement and meditation will consists of yoga-based movements along with some breathwork and meditation. All sessions are beginner friendly and aimed to relax the mind and body after a morning of swimming. It is also optional. Mats are provided and a confirmed structured itinerary will be given before the tour.

What do I need to bring?

Before the tour, a detailed trip bulletin and itinerary will be provided but here are some things you should bring: Beach towels (bath towels provided), toiletries, sunscreen, insect repellent, medications, hats, reef shoes. Mosquito nets are provided.

What food is provided?

Main meals such as breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. Any snacks or drinks consumed otherwise will be charged and can be paid via credit card at the end of the trip. Vegetarian meals upon request subject to availability as it is a small island and not everything can be sourced.

How to get there?

You will arrive in Tongatapu International airport. From there, all transfers will be arranged for our whale swimming adventure!

How likely are we to swim with the Whales?

These are wild animals so there is never a 100% guarantee. The tour does everything possible to maximise everyone's chances of swimming with whales which is why we have 5 days in the water!
